Symbian MOS versions

Symbian OS Versions 

Symbian operating system provide a platform on which mobile devices are run includes series 60, 80, 90, UIQ, MOAP and OOP. Series 60 and 90 is based on Touch and Button technology and UIQ is also compatible with touch and button based input. MOAP ( Mobile oriented application platform) is based on UI. Symbian Series have several features such as underlining Spell checker feature, internal server, support CPU architecture, Voice recognition Data share via a Bluetooth, Integrated hardware keyboard, support text document and so on.

EPOC 16 Version
 It is Preemptive multitasking single user single user OS. This OS version EPOC16 is also known as EPOC that is manufacture by Psion in 1980.16 Indicate that sixteen bit organizer device. The Processor is 16 bit 8086 family Processor. Programming language is C and written in Intel 8086 assembler language. The first EPOC 16 operating system device launched in 1989 and 1990. And in 1990 it was changed to EPOC32OS by Psion.

 Features
1. Keyboard operated with Graphical Interface.
2. 1 Bit per pixel.
3. Digitizer panel as Point input.

EPOC 32 Version(1 to 5)
The first version of EPOC 32 released in 1997 on Pison series 5 ROM v1.0. The ROM v1.1 featured  first released in 3rd Version Revo/Revo Plus, Notebook and Net-pad featured in 5th version written in C++ programming language. It is also a single user preemptive multitasking OS. This version released with more memory Protection which motivate the application developer. PDAs released with graphical user interface known as EIKON. EPOC32 version released for ARM7, ARM9, Strong ARM and Intel X scale Processor. 
                       In 1997 Prion decided to license EPOC to device manufacturers (Third Party) ER5 used by Psion series 5mx, Prion Revo, Prion Net book, Ericsson MC218, Diamond Mako, Prion series7 were launched in1999
In Nov 2000, ER54 released on the Ericsson R380 Model.

Version 6.0, 6.1 of Symbian OS
 Symbian OS 6.0 and 6.1 versions are also known  as ER6. 130 key Staff given by Prion to new company. This Symbian MOS was released in the Nokia 9210 Communicator in 2001. The new feature Bluetooth added in these OS. UIQ interface Nokia series 80 UI was with the Reference UI's(DRFDs). DRFDs is device family reference design (Ericsson) by the former. A key Pad based Nokia series 60 UI with square Ui is released as a first Smartphone. The camera with VGA (0.3 MP) feature in Symbian 6.1 OS was run on platform of Nokia 3650 Device.

Symbian OS 7.0 and 7.0s  
It was released in 2003 for the UIQ including Devices such as Sony Ericsson model no. P800, P910, P925, Motorola Model no. A925 and A10000, Nokia series 80 models 9300, 9500, Nokia series 90 models 7710, Nokia series Models no 3230, 6260, 6600, 6670, 7610. This OS also involved with EDGE support Version IPv6.

Symbian 8.0 version Operating System
It was released in 2004 with two unequal Kernel EKAI and EKA2. EKAI was developed to maintain old device drivers compatibility and EKA2 was a Real time.
Features
1. 3G Internet 
2. Data streaming in Two way.
3. Vector graphics open GLES and DVB-H
4. Screen Access directly by user.
5. Support CDMA.


Symbian 8.1 Version OS 
It is integrated version of 8.0. 8.1a is a version  with EKAI and 8.1b version with EKA2. As it is a real time support but it is not allow to install any open application.

Symbian 9.0 version OS
It was released in 2004 with improved features of 8.1a and 8.2b such as tools and security.
Symbian 9.1 Version OS
It was released in first quarter of 2005. Sony Ericsson M600 model and P900 was runs on Platform of 9.1 Version OS. Including improved security module. On 13 Sep 2006, Nokia company developed program to repair defects of latest version that is if large no. of sms was send the phone hangs temporarily for some time. This version also support 2.0 Bluetooth and digital signature. 

Symbian 9.2 MOS 
 This version was launched in first quarter of 2006. This version support OMA device management 1.2 and Vietnamese language. Symbian 9.2 MOS give platform to run Nokia devices such as Nokia Model E71, E90, N95, N95, N82, N81 and 5700.

Symbian Version 9.3 OS 
This version was launched on 12 July 2006. This was released with improved features like memory management, HSDPA and support WIFI 802.11.
This version provide Platform to Nokia E72, Nokia 5730 Xpress Music, Nokia E52, Nokia E75, Nokia 5320 Xpress Music, Nokia N7, Nokia N96 and Sony Ericsson P1.

Symbian Version 9.4 OS  
It was released in the first quarter of 2007. It support SQL provided by SQ lite and demand Paging. This version is also known as Series 60 5th Edition. Nokia devices which are runs on 9.4 version OS were Nokia N97 mini, Nokia 5800 Xpress Music, Nokia 5530, xpress Music, Nokia 5233, Nokia 5234, Sony Ericsson Vivaz, Sony Ericsson Vivaz pro, Micromax x265, Sony Ericsson Satio. 

Symbian Version 9.5 OS
 This version was released in 2011. This version was launched with improved features of .4 version os such as single Touch, Qwerty Keyboard, New web browser. 9.5 Version is also known as Symbian Anna.
Symbian Version 10.1
It was released in 2011 also named as Symbian belle. First time this version was run on platform of Nokia belle, Nokia 60, Nokia 70 and Nokia 701. 10.1 Version updates the features of Symbian Anna version.

6. Support Cut, copy, Paste Option.
