Android operating System Versions 

Android OS is manufactured by Google and it is a open source software. In 2007 the first pre- commercial  Beta android OS was released in android mobile devices. The versions 1.0 released in 2008 for mobile devices, which consider as commodities version of android. From the year 2009, android released their versions under alphabetical code name such as cupcake, Donut, eclair, froyo, Gingerbread,. honeycomb, Icecream  sandwich  and latest jellybean. Recently released Jellybean version in mobile devices. Update of android OS are also available open to  mobile devices users.

a) Alpha Android 

The logo of android that is Green was design by Irina Blok but Moscot logo was created by Dan Mornil. The mingle naming system has been evolved by Ryan Gibson. In android 1.5 Cupcake for more than 50% of public release in 2009 with the collaboration of Google and OHA two beta Androids versions was released in the year 2007.

b) Beta version 

5 November 2007 is celebrated as  the day of Beta  Android Birthday. It was released on 5 November and SDK ( Software Development Kit ) was released on 12 nov 2007 and 208. In 2007, m3-rc22a and m3rc37a was released and in 2008 m5-rc14,m5-rc15,0.9,1.0.r1 was released.

 Now Let us discuss about commercial version of Android 

a) Android 1.0 

It is first android commercial version, which was released in the year 2008. This android version hold various features 

1. Camera
In android 1.0 supports resolution power, increasing, and decreasing Zoom, balance ( white, grey, quality of picture etc.

2. Folder

Folders can be originate which contains grouping of various files. the folder Icon can be create on the Home screen. IF no longer need folder can also be deleted.

3. Surfing Of Net 

Accessing of Internet, HTML, XHTML, multi page can be open, Synchronization of Gmail Account, Google contacts, search Engine Google, Google task etc.

4.  Calender 

Calender application show the current date, month, year etc.

5. Google Map

 This map shows the latitude, street ways and satellite rhetorical or imitations

6. Messaging 

 Instant messaging, SMS and MMS.

7. Bluetooth 

  This version support Bluetooth facilities. The data can transfer from one to other easily bu using this application.

8. Notification

Status bar shown on the top of Home screen which contain option of LED, vibration, alerts, Ringtone setting.  

9. Display 

 Screen saver and wallpapers are used by user to set the background photo or image. Image is set on Display behind the Home screen icon.

10. Alarm Clock 

 Alarm clock is also set by user as their choice. time is can set either 12 or 25 hours format.

11. Music 

 This version holds the feature media player for listening of music and management of Bluetooth  Music files.

12. Voice dialer

 In this feature user can placing phone calls without writing numbers. 

13. Setting 

 In this all setting related to phone calls, Mobile network, blocking of any call etc and gallery feature save the image either take by camera and Bluetooth.

                 The android 1.1 update was released on 9 feb 2009 is known as petit four. This version released with HTC dream feature and resolved Bugs. This version contain various following feature.

a) Businessman can search details and reviews on map. 

b) Attachment can save in messages.

c) Hide dial pad during conversation by using speaker phone. 

Android 1.5

The android 1.5 update was released on 27 April 2008 which is based on Linux kernel. the code name of this version is called Cupcake (desert item). This update version contains various new features.

1.  Transition Animated screen.

2. Auto rotation of screen either portrait and Landscape.

3.  Copy and paste any text.

4. Auto Pairing during using Bluetooth options.

5. playback music and videos recording.

6. Capability  to upload videos and photo by using youtube and picasa.

7. Supports third party virtual Keyboard and user dictionary. 

Android 1.6

Android 1.6 software development kit (SDK) was released on 15 September 2009 which is based on 2.6.29 Linux kernel with new features.

Features of Android 1.6 
 1. Multiple deletion and sending through Bluetooth by selection.
2. Multiple lingual speech synthesis.
3. Improved speed of web browser.
4. Easier searching of contact by typing name.
5. More integrated camera, gallery, and camcorder.
6. Screen resolution WVGA.

Android 2.0

The code name of android 2.0 is Eclair was released on 26 October 2009. This version is based on 2.6.29 Linux kernel.

Features of Android 2.0 
1. Account Sync - Device user allow multiple account synchronization of contacts and Email.
2. Camera - camera include various features such as flashlight, scene mode, color effect, white balance and digital Zoom.
3. Web browser - Bookmark, thumbnails, Zoom page by double tab and minimize, HTML5 supports, better contrast ratio, screen sizes.
4. Display - Live wallpapers and animation set as background of Home screen which shows movement of images.
5. Improved 3.1.2 Google map and Bluetooth 2.1.

Android 2.2-2.2.3

The code name of android 2.2 version is frozen yogust was released on 20 may 2010. This version is based on Linux kernel 2.6.3.2.

Android 2.3-2.3.2

The SDK released Android 2.3 with Codename Gingerbread  on December. Android 2.3 is based on 2.6.35 Linux kernel.

Android  2.3.4

This version was released on 28 april 2011with Google talk feature( Voice or Video Chat) and open accessory library grants ( connecting to USB peripheral with software and applications).

Android 2.3.5 

 This version was released on 25 july 2011 with few new features:-

2. Efficient battery Power.

Android 2.3.6

This version was released on 2 sep 2011 with fixed voice bugs and android 2.3.7  released on 21sep 2011 with feature Google wallet for NexusS4G model.

Android 3.0

 The SDK launched 3.0 version with codename Honeycomb on 22 feb 2011. It is based on 2.6.36  Linux kernel. 3.0 version was run on Motorola Xoom Tablet for first time on 24 feb 2011

Android 3.2

It was launched on 15 july 2011 with improved H/W support, Accessing  file on memory card, improved screen resolution and new simple display.

Android 3.2.1

This version released on 20 sep 2011 with improved WIFI security, Improved adobe flash and Google book.

Android 3.2.2

Launched on 30 Aug 2011 with improved bug fixes for Motorola xoom 4G

Android 3.2.3

It is also released in 2011 with improved bug fixes for the Motorola Xoom and motorola xoom 4G.      

 Android 3.2.4
 This is released on Dec 2011 with 3G and 4G improved features.

Android 3.2.5 and 3.2.6

This version are released in first Quater 2011 with fixed data connectivity and bug fixes.

Android 4.0.1- 4.0.2 

 The SDk released android 4.0.1 with code name Ice cream sandwich on Oct 2011 It is based on 3.0.1 Linux kernel

 It is released on 16 Dec on 2011 with numerous bug fixes, improved database, spelling checker, Bluetooth functionality, Enhance calender, Bluetooth with QVGA resolution and refinement accessibility.

  

 Android 4.0.4

  It is released on 29 Mar 2012 with improved smooth screen rotation and phone no. recoganization.

Android 4.1

 The code name of android 4.1 version is Gellybean  and released on 9 July 2012 In Nexus7 Model. It is based on 3.0.31 linux kernel

These was first launched on 27 Nov 2012 and 11 Feb 213 respectively with Update features such as added bluetooth device and Joysticks, by pressing on Bluetooth and WiFI icon easily on & of, downloading notification shown on status bar of Home screen, battery saver and bugs fixes.

Android 4.3 

It is a latest version released by Google with codename Jellybean  on 24 July 2013 and with new bug bug fixing android update was launched on 22 Aug 2013
